The service of Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist, from the Greek word for ‘thanksgiving’) is a service of thanksgiving for our redemption from sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
A special service designed particularly for children and their caregivers is held in the Lady Chapel. This service is particularly suitable for children aged 0 to 12 years old (noisy and quiet babies, tots and kids alike) and lasts for approximately 35 minutes. Young families are welcome to come and join us as we have fun learning more about Jesus together.
Every Sunday at 9.15am.
Choral Evensong is a service which offers the opportunity for peace and quiet reflection at the end of each day, accompanied by beautiful choral music. The service follows the structure laid out in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.
Routinely, Evensong is sung by the Cathedral Choir 6 days per week, and by visiting choirs on Wednesdays and during school holidays. On occasions when no choir is available, a said service of Evening Prayer is held.
Monday to Saturday at 5.30pm and Sunday at 3.00pm.
If you are not able to join us for services in the Cathedral, Common Worship services of Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and Night Prayer for today are free to download from the Church of England website using the links below:
