Chichester’s Annual Light Experience returns this autumn with Illuminating Art - a spectacular after-dark immersive installation by the internationally acclaimed artistic collaboration Luxmuralis, following the success of last year’s sell-out debut.

Ascend through nearly 950 years of history, guided by knowledgeable volunteers, to Chichester Cathedral’s Lantern. This 45 minute journey includes climbing winding staircases and exploring roof spaces previously closed to the public.

In 1966, Chichester Cathedral unveiled one of Britain’s most daring post-war art commissions - a vivid tapestry behind its High Altar by celebrated artist and printmaker John Piper (1903–1992). On display from 13 February – 15 November 2026, Glowing + Alive uncovers the story behind the tapestry’s creation, the people and patrons who shaped the commission, and the artwork’s lasting impact on the Cathedral’s life.

Launched to coincide with the Cathedral’s 950th anniversary, our Match Funding Music Appeal contributes to the Platinum Endowment Trust for Music, helping to secure one of the Cathedral’s most treasured traditions. Every gift made before the end of March will help ensure that the choir and the Cathedral’s music continue to inspire, uplift and connect generations to come.

By making a donation you ensure that this historic Cathedral remains open for everyone, including future generations.
Your support helps maintain our sacred heritage, making a lasting difference for worshippers, visitors and our community.
Within these ancient walls you will find over nine centuries of history, inspiring architecture, beautiful art both ancient and modern, and a living tradition of faith. Our renowned choir and rich musical life lie at the heart of the Cathedral’s worship
Coming to the Cathedral offers to everyone an experience of beauty and transcendence, not only through the daily services that are celebrated here, but also concerts and special events, and simply through experience of the building and its surroundings.
The Cathedral is also a space for reflection, where it is possible to pause, light a candle, to find stillness and space, and to encounter God in the midst of everyday life.
Whatever brings you through our doors, we look forward to welcoming you.
