As Christmas Day approaches, the Cathedral transforms into a haven of musical celebration. 

With a stunning line-up of carols, concerts and performances, the Cathedral invites music lovers to immerse themselves in the timeless classics of Christmas. Here's a glimpse into this year's highlights:


Carols and candlelight: Worship at the Cathedral

From the candlelit Advent Procession to the joyous choral celebrations of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, our services provide our services provide a beautiful opportunity to reflect on the Christmas story through the uplifting sounds of the Cathedral Choir.

One of the highlights of the Cathedral's Christmas celebrations are our Carol Services, which run over four days. With a service of readings and carols celebrating the Christmas story, the Cathedral Choir will sing a mixture of traditional and contemporary carols, allowing attendees to join in, taking place on:

  • Thursday 19 December at 6:00pm
  • Friday 20 December at 6:00pm
  • Saturday 21 December at 6:00pm (also livestreamed)
  • Sunday 22 December at 3:00pm

Symphonies of the season: evening concerts

With our candlelit concerts of beloved classic Christmas movie soundtracks and elegant Christmas waltzes with London Concertante,to the dramatic beauty of Vivaldi's timeless classic, The Four Seasons with Piccadilly Sinfonietta, there’s something to delight every music lover this Christmas.

The celebrations begin at Advent, when the Cathedral Friends host an evening of seasonal music from talented students from the University of Chichester Conservatoire. The historic Vicars’ Hall will come alive with performances ranging from intimate solos to lively ensembles.

Following a sold-out performance in 2023, Wild Arts returns with a fresh, dynamic interpretation of Handel’s Messiah. Combining period-specialist musicians and accomplished singers, don't miss a captivating rendition of a Christmas classic.
