On Sunday 27th February the Cathedral community will be joining Christians across the world, in observing a special day of prayer for Ukraine, Russia and for peace.
Alongside the Bishop of Chichester, the Right Reverend Dr Martin Warner, we are also supporting a global day of prayer and fasting for peace on Ash Wednesday (2nd March).
The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has invited Christians worldwide to dedicate themselves to fasting and prayer on Ash Wednesday (2nd March). I hope that across this diocese you will join me in the keeping of that ancient discipline, for the sake of peace and the suffering of the people of Ukraine. And let each of us carry the plight of the Ukraine in our hearts throughout the solemn days of Lent.
Bishop of Chichester, the Right Reverend Dr Martin Warner
The doors of Chichester Cathedral are open to all, and there are many spaces for peaceful prayer and reflection - including the Cathedral's Lady Chapel.
A prayer for Ukraine, Russia and peace
O God,
it is your will to hold both heaven and earth
in a single peace.
Let the design of your great love
shine on the waste of our wraths and sorrows,
and give peace to Ukraine,
peace among nations,
and peace in our hearts,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
