MasterChef Champion 2018 to help launch Food Waste Prevention Campaign on the Cathedral Green

On Thursday 30th August 2018, from 11.00am - 3.00pm, the West Sussex Waste Partnership, made up of the county's main local authorities, is launching its Food Waste Prevention campaign.  Through the campaign they hope to raise awareness and provide advice on how to be a smart shopper, 'freeze with ease' and 'love your leftovers'.

To help kick off the campaign MasterChef Champion 2018 Kenny Tutt will be at the launch to cook up a storm demonstrating how some of the most frequently wasted food items can be turned into delicious meals.  The event will take place in a marquee with a stage kitchen cooking demonstration.

There will be a variety of other information and stands including those focusing on food waste prevention, single use plastic alternatives and home composting.  The event will also be supported by UK Harvest, who rescue food from local growers and supermarkets and redistribute it.

Refill will provide a stall promoting the national practical tap water campaign that aims to make refilling your bottle as easy, convenient and cheap as possible by introducing Refill Stations on every street.  This project also reduces litter by removing the need for single use plastic bottles, whilst helping us to stay hydrated in this warm weather, and encouraging more people to support local businesses.

Additionally, Sussex Smoothie Bikes will provide the opportunity to make your own smoothie from fruit and vegetables using pedal power.  Come and join the fun!

The campaign will be launched again on 6th September 2018 in Crawley Memorial Gardens.
