As part of our 950th anniversary celebrations, Chichester Cathedral is thrilled to announce the release of a special recording of The Lord Bless You and Keep You by Sir John Rutter.
Premiering on 28th March 2025, at 7.00pm, across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, this stunning performance by our full Choir is accompanied by unique footage of Choristers singing from the Cathedral’s Spire, offering breath-taking views of the historic city of Chichester.
This musical gift, 950 years in the making, is a key moment in our celebrations, as we also launch a major match-funding initiative to ensure the future of music at Chichester Cathedral. Thanks to the incredible generosity of three anonymous donors and one foundation, an extraordinary £950,000 has been pledged to match every donation made this year—doubling the impact of your gift to support our world-class music programme.
Since its foundation in 1075, music has played an integral role in the life of the Cathedral. The launch of our Platinum Endowment Trust for Music, which aims to raise £5 million to provide long-term financial stability for our music programme, builds on this proud tradition. With £2.8 million already secured, including the new £950,000 match-funding pledge, we are closer than ever to reaching this transformative goal.
This release of The Lord Bless You and Keep You and the match-funding campaign are both part of Chichester Cathedral’s ongoing efforts to safeguard and nurture its exceptional musical heritage for the next 950 years.
