Nestled in the heart of Chichester, we invite families to embark on an exciting journey filled with creativity, exploration and a celebration of resilience. Here we highlight our free, top activities for you and your family to enjoy this summer. We guarantee an unforgettable visit for the whole family, including your four-legged friends!
Summer Activity Station: Responding to Kate Viner's 'Resilience in Clay’ Exhibition
Throughout the holidays, our Summer Activity Station is open for younger visitors to unleash their creative energy. This interactive station invites families to share their thoughts and feelings about our current art exhibition, by Kate Viner. 'Resilience in Clay’ is made up of sculptures that depict individuals who have sought sanctuary in Chichester and now call our city their home. The Activity Station encourages children to reflect on what they see by creating their own artwork.
Creative Drop-In with Artist and Sculptor Kate Viner on 11th August, 11am – 2pm
Mark your calendars for an extraordinary opportunity as artist Kate Viner hosts a free creative drop-in event. Children and their families can participate in a hands-on workshop, designing their own artwork inspired by Kate's thought-provoking exhibition, 'Resilience in Clay'. This is a chance to meet the artist, learn about her creative process and take home your very own masterpiece. There’s no need to book, simply show up on the day between 11am and 2pm to take part.
Children's Trail: Seek Out the Hidden Faces and Expressions
Embark on an adventure through the centuries by following our free Children's Trail. Inspired by our summer exhibition of sculptural portraits, the trail encourages young visitors to discover the hidden faces and expressions that adorn the ancient walls of our Cathedral. From the 12th-century Romanesque Reliefs to the contemporary mosaic of St. Dominic, every face tells a unique story. Unleash your child's curiosity as they explore the history and beauty woven within our sacred walls. You can pick up a copy of this free trail as you enter the Cathedral.
