Since 2001 a pair of peregrine falcons have raised their new chicks in the Cathedral's turrets. 2018 is the 18th year that peregrines have returned to the Cathedral site to nest and we are delighted to announce that the first egg was laid on Wednesday 21st March. Since then, three more eggs have followed to give a full complement. Since 2002, fifty-four chicks have successfully fledged from the site here at the Cathedral.
Members of the public are invited to come along to see if they can spot the peregrine parents as they fly in and out of the nesting box on the north-west side of the Cathedral Tower. Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 24th April until 27th June RSPB staff and volunteers will be on hand to help visitors spot the birds through telescopes and binoculars.
