Our commitments

We will continually strive to find effective ways to safeguard all members of our community and will prioritise engagement with children, young people, vulnerable adults, victims and survivors.
All members of the Cathedral Clergy, staff, volunteers, contractors, third parties and congregations are expected to take appropriate responsibility for safeguarding children, young people, vulnerable adults, victims and survivors within the Cathedral community and will offer and monitor appropriate training and ensure appropriate safeguarding policies are in place.
Recruitment for all clergy, lay ministers, staff and volunteers complies with the Church of England’s Safer Recruitment and People Management Guidance (2021).
Safeguarding risk assessments, policies and procedures are implemented and updated appropriately and at least annually.

Our Safeguarding Management Committee is made up of a range of independent members who proactively advises Chapter on the Cathedral’s strategic response to safeguarding.
