Gabrielle joins Chapter after nine years as Diocesan Secretary of the Diocese. She read Classics at Merton College, Oxford and for twelve years was a barrister specialising in property litigation at Maitland Chambers in Lincoln’s Inn. She has played croquet all over the world representing England and currently volunteers as Secretary of Croquet England, the sport’s National Governing Body.
She is a lifelong Anglican, and developed a love of cathedrals growing up in the precincts at Ely. She has worshipped at churches across the Anglican spectrum from St Ebbe’s in Oxford to St James’s, Paddington and is now a member of the congregation at All Saints’, Hove.
“Cathedrals are uniquely placed both to serve the faithful as the mother church of the diocese and to invite a broad cross-section of the wider public into a Christian building and a potential encounter with Christ through music, visual arts, architecture, educational opportunities, civic functions and so much more. I look forward to playing my part in Chapter as the Cathedral seeks to deepen its engagement in prayer, study, community and mission.”
