Biographies
Miriam Wakeling is in high demand internationally, in both the studio and the concert hall, enjoying a varied career as a session, chamber and orchestral musician. Miriam has toured extensively as far as Moscow and Brazil with artists such as Elton John, Dua Lipa, Giorgio Moroder and Beverley Knight.
During 2022 Miriam recorded solo cello for Roger O’Donnell’s (The Cure) latest album. She has recorded cello for BBC 1 David Attenborough documentary, ‘Dynasties 1 and 2’ and in 2023 for the film ‘Bodyparts,’ composed by Nainita Desai and Ollie Howell. During 2023 she will be working with Ballet Company ‘New Creations Collective’ as solo cellist for their new Ballet ‘Nightingale’ and for The Almeida Theatre’s production ‘The Mirror.’
Ben Socrates is a classically trained pianist whose interests have taken him from the concert hall to the field of dance accompaniment, with forays into contemporary improvisation, chamber music, jazz and electronic music. Studying at The University of Chichester and Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Ben won prizes for solo and concerto performance, song accompaniment and collaborative composition, and went on to perform recitals throughout the UK and Europe. Later Ben would perform as a classical artist on cruise ships around the world, crossing the Pacific, Atlantic and Carribean oceans.
Ben’s multidisciplinary interests have led to his collaboration in a number of innovative projects. This has included work with both emerging and established composers, theatre, ballet, contemporary dance companies and artists. Based in London, Ben accompanies numerous ballet companies, masterclasses, workshops and vocational dance schools.
