Lunchtime Concert: David Leigh (organ)

Chichester Cathedral's popular lunchtime concerts take place on Tuesdays at 1.10pm during term time, in the spectacular setting of the Cathedral Nave. They are free and last approximately 50 minutes. You are welcome to come and go as you please. Coffee is available at no charge, and some visitors even bring a sandwich! There is a retiring collection.

David Leigh is the Organist and Assistant Master of Music at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin.  He pursues a busy career as a conductor and keyboard player, working frequently with the NSO, RTECO, Ulster Orchestra and Chamber Choir Ireland.  He is Musical Director of the University of Dublin Choral Society and of chamber choir The Gaudete Singers.

David held organ scholarships at the cathedrals of Blackburn and Lichfield, and then at St Peter’s College, Oxford during which time he read for a music degree and was also Assisting Organist at Magdalen College. He also studied the organ with David Sanger and with Nicolas Kynaston during this time.  At the age of nineteen he won several playing prizes in the Royal College of Organists’ examination for Fellowship.
