Concert: Billingshurst Choral Society

Billingshurst Choral Society is a lively and well-established choir based in West Sussex. Founded in 1986 by a group of friends, including the founding Musical Director George Jones, the choir has grown in both repertoire and number. Recently celebrating their 30th anniversary they continue to develop with membership currently around 90 singers.

The choir has a wide repertoire, ranging from Handel, Bach and Beethoven to Verdi and Vaughan Williams, including modern composers Rutter, Chilcott, Jenkins, Todd and Goodall.

2018 sees the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and to mark this notable occasion the choir will present a performance of Karl Jenkin's moving work "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace."  Full of dramatic and moving sections, this has rightly become a favourite of the choral repertoire.
