Book After Breakfast with Head Verger Tim Morris

Chichester Cathedral Friends are pleased to present The Book after Breakfast on Thursday 10th August 2023 at 4 Canon Lane.

Tea or coffee, and biscuits, will be served at 10.00am, followed by an informal talk by Head Verger Tim Morris on the incredible story of Brother Andrew in his book God's Smuggler written with John Sherrill and Elizabeth Sherill.

First published in the 1960s and an international best seller, God's Smuggler tells of the early experiences and determination of the young Dutchman, Brother Andrew (1928-2022), as he smuggles bibles to persecuted Christians behind the 'Iron Curtain'. With dreams of becoming an undercover spy, he makes the dangerous border crossings during the Cold War with a bad back and no funds, escaping KGB pursuits with his faith as his guide. In later years when Communism collapsed, he bravely ventured into China, the Middle East and Islamic Countries. His work lives on today through the 'Open Doors' mission which distributes bibles to countries still hostile to the Christian faith. His inspiring and incredible story is one of complete faith.
