This exhibition by the award-winning international sculptor Diane Maclean showcased a number of large sculptures, several of which were created especially for this event. The sculptures incorporated light, colour and a sense of motion to draw the viewer in. The shape and form of the sculptures, one a series of open frames, another a bird’s wing, invited the viewer to explore the potential for transformation, and for making crossings in our own life.
Diane’s extraordinary sculptures included ‘Circle of Light’ in the North Transept, where visitors entered a circle of steel columns and were bathed in a sanctuary of light. The Cathedral’s ‘Paradise’ – the sacred central area of the Cloisters – hosted the ‘Road Untravelled’, a slim river of gleaming stainless steel. Visitors were invited to follow a trail to explore these and three other unique pieces positioned both inside and outside of the Cathedral.
