Angela Martin joined Chapter as The Representative of the College of Canons in 2021. Angela has served in the Diocese of Chichester since 2008, when she was ordained at the Cathedral. In this time, she has sat on a number of committees and groups, including as a member of the Diocesan Mission Fund and on the Diocesan Environmental Action Group. Until recently she acted as an Honorary Liturgical Chaplain to The Bishop of Chichester, the Right Reverend Dr Martin Warner, and served the Rural Dean for East Grinstead Deanery.
Angela was born to a farming family in Sussex. She cites her upbringing in the rural countryside as inspiration for her ministry. Prior to being ordained, she led a successful career in microbiology for a large pharmaceutical company. Angela departed this role to look after her three children, whilst volunteering in her local community.
Angela said: “It is a great privilege to now be called to play an integral part in the continued legacy of the Cathedral’s heritage. To have the opportunity to add to it and pass it on to the next generation. This new role working alongside the Dean and Chapter is one that I am very much looking forward to.”
