As the Cathedral celebrates 950 years of history this year, we are looking to the future with a major initiative to preserve one of its most treasured traditions— our music.
Every donation made during this special anniversary year will be doubled thanks to generous match-funding - a gift of £10 becomes £20, and £100 becomes £200. UK taxpayers can add Gift Aid, increasing donations by an extra 25%.
Please help us to raise an additional £950,000 to secure our unique musical heritage for generations to come.
On Sunday 30 March we will celebrate Mothering Sunday. Please join us to give thanks for the gift of motherhood; to give thanks for our own parents (wherever they may be) and for Mary, mother of Jesus and her witness to the Church. At the 9.15 and 11.15 Eucharists we will bless and distribute flowers.
Did you know that in the 16th century, Mothering Sunday was also a time for people to journey back to their ‘mother’ church (that’s us!) for a special family service. Why not take part in this tradition and make a pilgrimage to the Cathedral?
Chichester950 celebrates Chichester Cathedral as a beacon of faith, spirituality and community for all. Throughout 2025, visitors can experience a diverse range of activities designed to evoke a sense of fascination, awe, pride and belonging within the walls of this living church.
Religion, Rebellion & Reformation shares the story of the Christian faith in Sussex, revealed through people, events and treasures, from 1075 to the present day.
The exhibition, which runs from 14th February - 15th November 2025, features fascinating artefacts from across the Diocese of Chichester, spanning East and West Sussex.
For 950 years, this Cathedral has stood as a spiritual and architectural treasure, drawing pilgrims from near and far. Today, we continue to welcome all who seek a deeper connection with God through this ancient practice.
Our goals for responsible environmental stewardship include reducing our consumption of fossil fuels, welcoming nature into our green spaces and being a place for our communities to engage with nature as well as on environmental issues.
By making a donation you ensure that this historic Cathedral remains open for everyone, including future generations.
Your support helps maintain our sacred heritage, making a lasting difference for worshippers, visitors and our community.
This year, we come together to celebrate this extraordinary legacy through Chichester950, a year-long programme of events that honours the cathedral’s enduring story, and its place in the life of our city, the counties of East and West Sussex, and beyond.
As we reflect on the past, we also look forward with hope and gratitude, seeking to create a lasting legacy of faith, hope and love for future generations. I warmly invite you to join us in this special year of celebration.
