The Life & Death of Alexander Litvinenko  is a story with all the classic ingredients for an opera: power, politics, betrayal, love, jeopardy. Former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko became Putin’s most ebullient and needling critic. As he lay dying, he worked with Scotland Yard detectives, and tracked the lethal poisoning to his former colleague – and football fan – Andrei Lugovoy. This real-life story is told through a series of flashbacks and flash-forwards covering events in Russia that led Litvinenko to seek exile and his family’s life in London.

Composer, Anthony Bolton, will offer an insight to his creative process and inspiration for the opera which had its world premiere at Grange Park Opera in 2021.

The Music Room at Champs Hill is an incredibly special place where music is celebrated whilst surrounded by an extraordinary private art collection and glorious gardens set in the landscape of the South Downs.

This event is in aid of Chichester Cathedral Platinum Endowment Trust for Music, which aims to sustain and develop the priceless musical heritage of Chichester Cathedral for future generations.
